Advancing Compassion Together (ACT) is a branch of Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program (http://www.rootsandshoots.org/).
We will have ongoing educational and service opportunities directed toward growing respect and compassion for people, animals and the planet.

Jane Goodall founded Roots & Shoots in 1991 with the mission: “To foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for people, animals and the environment.” Roots & Shoots has grown into a global program over the past 20 years, and Jane invites individuals and groups to establish their own local chapters and to customize them to their particular callings within the program’s mission. Our local group is called Advancing Compassion Together (ACT), and our description on the Roots & Shoots website is: “Started by a mother-son team for the purpose of creating an inter-generational forum for education, connection and service toward all living beings and the planet we share. The group is governed by a vegan ethic of compassion, which seeks to eliminate exploitation of nonhuman animals, humans and our environment, and emphasizes the empowerment of individuals of all ages to take the initiative to make a difference wherever they recognize a need.” We welcome all who share our desire to advance compassion for each other, for our fellow earthlings and for our natural home to join us for this kickoff event.
